Seismic Fault Plane Parameters Estimating of 2009 Yao'an Earthquake

  • The method of inversing the seismic fault plane parameter according to the distribution of aftershocks was applied to the MS6.0 Yao'an earthquake on July 9, 2009. The results show that the strike and dip angle of the seismic fault plane is 296.6° and 86.6° respectively which are consistent with previous studies. The fault plane parameters were also inversed on basis of aftershocks of different time periods. It is found that the final results are very close to the results based on aftershocks occurred 2 days after the mainshock. Which indicate that using this method, seismic fault plane parameters can be determined rapidly. So it provides a new idea for obtaining seismic fault plane parameters as soon as possible in the future.
