THE TAIHANG AND YAN MOUNTAINS ROSEMAINLY IN QUARTERANARY

  • In the Tathang and Yan Mountains, incised and meandering valleys formed in Quarternary.Incised valleys formed on the basis of meandering and broad valley of Pliocene epoch. The meandering and broad valleys of Pliocene epoch indicated that the Taihang and Yan Mountains were the geomorphologic landscape of hills and broad plam in that cpoch. At present, they have risen and fomred the mountains at the levels of 1300~2200m.Above evolution of landform showed that the Taihang and Yan Mountains rose mainly in Quarternary. The upliftcd cxtent is respcectively 110~1500m and 600~1000m,the upliftod rate is respcctively 0.44~0.60mm/a and 0.24~0.40mm/a.The uplifted extent in Quarternary accounts for 60~70% of the total uplifted quantity.
