XINGTAI EARTHQUAKE IS A MILESTONE OF SEISMOLOGICAL WORK IN OUR COUNTRY-THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE XINGTAI EARTHQUAKE

This paper reviews the situation that when the Xingtai earthquake occurred, the P-arty and Government showed great concern for the people of the disastrous area and paid much attintion to seismological work; our Premier Zhou Enlai had been to the seismic area for three times to express sympatby to the people of the area and put g-reat hope on the seismological workers; and that tbe people there rcbuilt their bone-land with the belp of the people all over the country and through self-reliance.This paper discussed the initiating significance of Xingtai earthquake in earthquake obser-vation and prediction of our country from the fact of the quick development of our s-eismological work after the Xingtai earthquake and also summarized the enlightenme-nt which we have gained in the prdctice of in-situ observation and prediction of Xin-gtai earthquake.
